I'm On My Way

Today, my family and I visited friends who have goats. They have three goat kids (all boys) who are absolutely adorable; they are so soft, but the best part about them is their long ears. So cute! They also have chickens and a lamb and are in the process of fully moving into their house. Every time I visit them I am inspired by the deep deep faith of Mrs.J. She is so compassionate and loving. I find that God always seems to shine through her, and every time I see her it is very encouraging. Mrs.J's character is one that I aspire to achieve.

It is important for for anyone, but particularly christian girls/women, to have other women they admire. What traits do you find the most desirable for yourself? Personally, I find mercy and compassion (which seem to go hand in hand) are the most desirable, but also the hardest to nurture and grow. It is incredible hard to show compassion to a mean boss, or to a child who constantly undermines your authority. At those times, I think it is the best to remember the women we admire and strive to follow their example; that is, following the example of Jesus Christ.

Nerves

Hi People,
Recently my mother has been bugging me to start a blog documenting my journey of homeschooling through high school and going into university. I'll give it a shot. Questions and comments are welcomed and appreciated!

High School
For grade 9 I attempted to get into Eden High School, but alas I did not and was homeschooled. We used Ambleside online http://www.amblesideonline.org/ which I really enjoyed, although I felt like it was less structured then the curriculum used in elementary school. In hindsight I am very glad I did not go in grade 9; I don't think I would have come back to homeschooling and I would've missed out on some of the great opportunities presented to me.

In 2008, for grade 10, I went to Eden high School. If your going to choose a school in the Niagara area I do not recommend Eden. The kids there don't  really want to learn; they also seem to have a very twisted view of authority and God. Although it has the "Christian" label, it's not really what you are getting. Overall it was not a great experience.

For grade 11, I came back home and we followed Tree of Life http://www.treeoflifeathome.com/ It was good for my mum because it is correspondence. The English I took was actually considered grade 12 and   is worth three credits: Bible, history and English. It was nice/easy. The books were okay; I had read a couple of them before and I felt that the rest of them were pretty boring. =D

This past year I've decided to apply  to Brock for Accounting. At first we thought that I would need to go through high school, and so I took two courses from Sir Winston; calculus and advanced functions.(These were the prerequisites for my program) Sir Winston is a great school! I highly  recommend it for people interested in going to high school. The students are very warm and friendly, plus the teaching staff is great! I also took two university courses from Athabasca http://www.athabascau.ca/ via correspondence. I found out from Brock that I only need to have two university credits and an average of at least 60%, to be considered as a transfer student, and that is the route I am taking at the moment. I have to take two more Athabasca courses which are an English Writing course and an introduction to business math.

The deadline for Brock is June 1, and all one needs is the midterm averages. Right now I am working toward my midterms and looking for a summer job =D
